The online and hybrid CPE program at The Community CPE Supervision Services Center is organized through Community CPE Supervision Services Center, LLC (CCPESSC).
CCPESSC is committed to providing training and supervisor consultation services to institutions, professionals, and persons in need in the community. The program utilizes the adult “action-reaction-reflection” learning process, which is central to clinical training.
One of the basic tenets of CPE is that trainees are involved in hands-on, direct, experiential learning as they minister to people and reflect clinically on their actions and reactions during these caregiving experiences. It is not primarily academic or classroom learning, although it has a significant didactic component.
The primary textbook of the program is the reading of the “living human document” within the trainee’s “clinical” or ministry context. CPE trainees in the program will learn to reflect on their involvement with those in crisis due to illnesses, disasters, traumas, or life-changing events. By thinking through and analyzing these encounters with their peers and CPE supervisor, trainees are provided with the necessary clinical and diagnosing tools to enhance their pastoral functioning in their area of specialization.
