Clinical Pastoral Education at CCPESSC is a vibrant and creative online/hybrid program designed to enrich the ministries and skills of seminary graduates, chaplains, faith leaders and other pastoral caregivers in their respective places of ministry. It uses the “action-reaction-reflection” approach to learning in a variety of training sites, including hospitals; hospice locations; churches, mosques, and temples; counseling centers; and at other community service organizations.
Training focuses on four competencies in ministry.
Pastoral Reflection: Cultivating an understanding of self as a foremost tool in pastoral care and counseling, while benefiting from supervisor and peer group feedback.
Pastoral Competence: Insights and resources in becoming skilled in clinical analysis, intercultural, interfaith, and interdisciplinary competence
Pastoral Formation: Increasing awareness of pastoral identity and roles and assistance in defining and maintaining sound professional boundaries.
Pastoral Specialization: Equipping chaplains, pastors, religious leaders and other caregiving professionals with clinical assessment and intervention skills in their area of ministry; enables trainees to meet the psycho-spiritual and emotional needs of clients/patients.
A small interdisciplinary/interfaith group engagement (4-8 trainees)
